The saying is "When you marry him, you marry the family too". Let me start by saying don't jump, I know you are very close to the edge. The fact that you are reading this, lets me know you are in there for the long haul, for the crazy sister in-law who thinks her brother is too good for you, and all. I have dealt with many different cases, I always say I'm here to plan the wedding, not your life. It's really hard, and I understand. If you follow my blog you know I'm all about design, dresses, and decor. Today I feel like this is an issue and if I can help, why not? Well at least I hope I can, if not back to dresses. Here are a couple of rules to follow, at least to keep you sane:
Be yourself, don't change for anyone. Don't go out of your way to be accommodating, at the end of the day you want to be happy. Overextending yourself still won't make them like you: you will just be frustrated. The most important thing is respect, they will respect you more if you stay true to who you are.
Treat people how you want to be treated. Don't leave mom out of planning, if your son was getting married you would want to be a part of the day!
Don't, & I repeat don't try to make him chose between you and them.
Talk to him about the situation , decide what type of relationship you want to have with them, and ask him how it can be achieved.
By any means necessary do not let them ruin your wedding!
Well there you have it my tips to stay sane with the in-laws, back to wedding planning.
